Emmy-awarded television journalist.

In 2011, minutes after a 3-mile-wide twister totaled Joplin, Missouri - killing 75 people and almost hitting the news station - I reported live with devastation and deceased lying around me.

As a breaking news reporter, I faced danger head-on: driving toward tornadoes & wildfires; taking cover as a triple-murderer cut his attorney’s throat in court or when a man fired shots during a standoff. My first double-murder case involved two people I grew up with in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

7 years, several roles.

During my seven-year-career, I worked my way from a starter market of Joplin, Missouri to the big league of NBC San Diego (owned and operated by NBC Universal).

I earned multiple roles: breaking news reporter, weekend anchor, weather anchor, executive producer, and football sideline reporter … all while filming, writing, and editing stories myself.

Edit life’s story.

I retired from the news in 2016 after a life changing event. I hiked 2,200 miles on the Pacific Crest Trail. From April to August and Mexico to Washington.

After this long distance trail, I wanted to focus on positive stories while using her journalist skills. I started my own media production company, bringing humanistic-storytelling to healthcare marketing.

Evolution

At 5-years-old, I wanted to be a reporter. I sat in front of the television, with my attorney father, watching COPS, local and national news, and Law & Order. This shaped my life.

I evolved from Sports Editor of my high school yearbook, to main anchor of my college television station, a reporter in Joplin, Missouri, lead reporter in my hometown of Tulsa, Oklahoma, eventually chasing the news in San Diego.

The reason I loved reporting: exploring new places and meeting new people. I learned from a person’s best and worst day. How did they react? What got them through? What does their support system look like?
